The upcycling movement is starting!

Upcycle Istanbul Art and Design Festival, by using the transformative power of art, aims to give waste a second chance, to raise awareness on issues such as sustainability awareness and efficient resource use, and also invites individuals, organizations and media organs to join the transformation movement in this social sphere of influence. The critical perspective presented to our consumption culture, accompanied by upcycled or natural materials, and opening the door to social transformation form the center of the installations and performances. While the exhibition also refers to the history of the Museum Gazhane, which is a strong example of upcycling at the urban scale, and its re-activation as a cultural venue; the works open a space for a discussion in which sensitivities on ecology, the city and sustainability are reconsidered.

In addition to the works of Ilgın Seymen, Alper Aydın, Murat Fesih Avcıbaşı, Bilal Yılmaz, Gamze Eskinazi & Yasemin Sayınsoy; Gülhatun Yıldırım’s performance, a sustainable bazaar and fashion exhibition accompanied by Radio Voyage’s broadcast all day, Fungistanbul concert on the upcycling stage of Picnic Works, Upcycle Istanbul Art and Design Festival where various upcycling workshops, speeches and performances will be waiting for you.
