We met with Artnivo artist Alican Leblebici in his workshop.
Leblebici, who presents the portrait in a new way while preserving its privileged position, sets out from portrait and self-portraits themselves as well as his own life. The artist, who is fed by the different disciplines he interacts with, especially literature, seeking his own representation through other bodies, uses different models in his paintings or paints himself in various moods and situations. By painting his models or himself, he reproduces the paint on the skin upon the canvas.
While there is a careful photo-realistic style in Leblebici’s paintings; in some, the expressive paint strokes reflected on this meticulous workmanship draw attention. The artist, who removes paint from matter and describes it as his own soul, splashes paint on his canvases as a way of being in paint. We talked about the art and himself, whose future plans are to start production with different techniques.
