Selin Balcı is an interdisciplinary artist and researcher. In her productions, she combines traditional art practice with scientific materials, synthetic habitats and microscopic organisms. She creates living biological landscapes in which he witnesses the endless interactions of living organisms in a sterile, man-made environment. In 2022 and 2023, many projects received support from Anne Arundel and Maryland State Arts Councils independent artist programs. Other awards include the Mary Sawyer's Baker Award from the Greater Baltimore Cultural Alliance, the College Art Association (CAA) Professional Development Fellowship, the Washington DC Hamiltonian Gallery fellowship, the Anne Truitt educational grant, and the SOFAlab Science/Art Project award from George Mason University. She attended the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, Vermont Studio Center, Istanbul Art Residency and MASS MoCA residency programs. After graduating from West Virginia University's Department of Fine Arts, Selin completed her master's degree in studio arts at the University of Maryland in 2012. She continues his studies in Washington DC.
